For anyone wanting to really get to grips with their camera but also combine this with a good solid post processing workflow, this course would be perfect. Over the first two days we build right from basic manual photography to include everything you would ever need from bracketing images to long exposures. The third day is then used to perfect a solid professional workflow on how to organise and process images to a professional standard.
The first day consists of a trip to Glencoe(transport provided) where we cover the basics of full manual camera control in stunning surroundings. We then build on this to ensure everyone fully understands and uses optimal camera settings comfortably. Many people at this point are very surprised as to how straight forward this type of photography actually is. Next we introduce bracketing techniques which allow shooting in any light and still be in total control of the scene.
The second day we take it even further by covering in-depth long exposure techniques. These are also captured in full manual which allows any duration from as little as a few seconds to many minutes. Our exact shooting locations may vary as we try to utilise both the weather and suitable long exposure subjects but normally on day 2, we are in and around the central belt. I am also able to loan ND filters by prior arrangement for anyone who doesn't already own one.
On the third day we cover quality post processing in the modern day digital darkroom. We will familiarise ourselves with Lightroom and how it all hangs together. We then start with basic editing before moving on to more advanced local professional processing techniques that software is capable of. Most students can't believe how powerful a package this is and how easy it is to get to grips with.
The goal of this course is for all students to leave with a full understanding of optimal quality manual photography incorporating various advanced techniques. Everyone will also have a solid post processing workflow which will allow them to organise and develop their images to a very high standard.
This is a non residential course. If you don't live near enough to travel daily then we can supply a list of local hotel options. By prior arrangement we can even pickup/drop-off at your hotel as required if you don't have your own transport. Travelling to Falkirk by public transport is very straight forward.
As with all my courses, the atmosphere is very relaxed, fun and friendly. The course content is constantly adjusted to exactly suit the requirements of each individual group.
Exact times will be supplied nearer the start date but each day normally runs from around 7:30am until 5pm.
Relevant notes are provided throughout the course.
